Aircon Electrical Work in Singapore

Most aircon electrical jobs come from new installations, system upgrades, or wiring faults. We handle everything between the DB board and the unit — not whole-house electrical.

What Is Aircon Electrical Work

Aircon-side electrical covers everything between the distribution board and the unit — the dedicated circuit, isolator switch, cable run, and wiring connections. The scope depends on what exists, what the unit requires, and whether you are dealing with a new installation, an upgrade, or a fault.

Scope of Work

Five types of electrical work come up regularly. Most jobs involve one or two of these.

  • Dedicated circuit

A separate breaker from the DB sized to the unit's amperage. Required for new installations and often needed when upsizing an existing system.

  • Isolator switch

A local disconnect near the outdoor unit for safe servicing and emergency shutoff. Standard practice for all outdoor unit installations.

  • Cable upgrade

When the existing cable rating is too low for the unit — common when upgrading from a smaller system. Cable size is matched to the actual unit load and run length.

  • Power supply relocation

Moving the power point to accommodate a new unit position after renovation. Includes rerouting the cable and verifying the circuit remains correctly rated.

  • Wiring fault repair

Diagnosing and fixing electrical faults — loose connections, damaged insulation, missing earth bonds, or undersized cables causing breaker trips.

How We Work

Every electrical job is assessed on-site before any work is quoted.

  1. 01

    Describe the requirement

Tell us what you need — new circuit, cable upgrade, fault repair, or installation-related electrical work. Include your property type and unit details.

  2. 02

    Site assessment

We check the existing DB capacity, cable routing, and any access constraints. For renovation work, we coordinate with your contractor on timing.

  3. 03

    Work and verification

Cable run, switch installation, or fault repair carried out. Circuit is tested before sign-off — no live handover without a confirmed working circuit.

Benefits of Proper Aircon Electrical Work

Electrical work done correctly the first time prevents the faults that follow from undersized or improperly rated wiring.

  • Correctly rated circuit

undersized cables cause breaker trips, overheating, and unit failure. Cable and breaker matched to the unit's actual load stops repeat problems.

  • Safe isolation point installed

isolator switch at the outdoor unit means servicing access without returning to the DB board on every visit.

  • Most jobs completed in a single visit

cable routing, switch installation, and wiring faults are typically resolved same-day once access is confirmed.

  • Scoped to what is needed

aircon-side electrical only, so you are not paying for whole-house work that is not required.

When to Book Aircon Electrical Work

Book when the electrical side is the gap — not a fault inside the unit itself.

  • New aircon installation

dedicated circuit and isolator switch are part of every new installation scope.

  • Breaker keeps tripping when the aircon runs

could be an undersized cable, loose connection, or compressor fault. Diagnosis first, then the fix.

  • Upgrading to a larger system

existing cable and breaker may not support the higher amperage. Check before installation.

  • Outdoor unit has no isolator switch

a safety gap that needs closing before the next service visit.

  • Renovation changed the unit position

power supply needs rerouting to the new mounting point before the unit can be reinstalled.

When Aircon Electrical Work Is Not the Right Call

Some electrical needs fall outside our scope — these require a licensed electrician.

  • DB board upgrades or replacements

requires a licensed electrician, outside our scope.

  • Whole-house rewiring or additional power points unrelated to aircon

    separate specialist work.

  • EMA compliance certification for commercial premises

    needs a licensed electrical worker.

  • Fault inside the unit

a tripping breaker caused by a faulty PCB or compressor is a repair issue, not an electrical wiring job.
