Common Drainage Faults

  The most common cause. Dust, algae, and slime accumulate in the drain line over time, restricting flow until water backs up and overflows from the drain pan.

  The plastic pan beneath the evaporator coil cracks from age or thermal stress. Water bypasses the drain line entirely and drips from the unit body.

  Incorrect drainage slope

  Condensate drains rely on gravity. Insufficient slope — or a reverse gradient — causes water to pool in the line instead of flowing to the discharge point.

  Disconnected or misaligned pipe

  Drain pipes that have shifted or come loose exit water at the wrong point instead of reaching the discharge outlet.

  Algae and slime buildup
