Aircon PCB Repair in Singapore

The PCB controls the unit's logic — startup, temperature regulation, error handling, and communication between indoor and outdoor units. A fault can show as anything from an error code to a completely unresponsive unit.

What Is PCB Repair

The PCB (printed circuit board) is the control centre of the aircon — it manages startup sequences, compressor speed, temperature logic, and communication between the indoor and outdoor units. A fault often presents as an error code, but error codes are not always a board failure. Thermistor faults and wiring faults produce identical codes. We read the code and test each component before ordering any replacement. Covers indoor PCB, outdoor PCB, and the wired controller.

Common Faults

PCB faults share symptoms with other component failures. These are the most common presentations we diagnose.

  • Error codes on display

The unit is showing a fault code that does not clear with a power reset. The code points toward a category of fault — not always the board itself.

  • Unit not responding to remote

The unit powers on but ignores remote commands, or the display does not react. Can indicate a receiver fault, wiring issue, or control board fault.

  • Erratic on/off cycling with no pattern

The unit starts and stops repeatedly without reaching temperature or showing a clear fault code. Often a board logic fault or a sensor reporting incorrect values.

  • Unit completely dead

No display, no response, no activity. Could be the PCB, but electrical supply and fuses are ruled out first.

  • Communication error between indoor and outdoor units

Multi-split systems where one or more indoor units stop responding while others function. Indicates a communication fault on the control circuit.

How We Fix It

We do not order parts before confirming the fault. Every step is verified before proceeding.

  1. 01

    Read error code and cross-reference

The displayed code is looked up against the manufacturer's fault table to narrow down which circuit or component category is implicated.

  2. 02

Test PCB vs sensor vs wiring

We test the thermistors and wiring harness before concluding the board has failed. Many error codes are caused by a sensor drift or a loose connector, not the PCB.

  3. 03

    Identify faulty component

Once isolated to the PCB, we confirm whether the fault is on the indoor board, outdoor board, or the wired controller.

  4. 04

    Replace and reset

The faulty board is replaced with the correct part for the model. Error codes are cleared and the unit is restarted from a known state.

  5. 05

    Verify normal operation

The unit is run through a full cycle — startup, temperature control, remote response — to confirm the fault is resolved.

Benefits of PCB Repair

What you get from a diagnosis-first approach to control board faults.

  • Root cause confirmed before replacement

Error codes narrowed to PCB, sensor, or wiring before a new board is ordered.

  • Error codes cleared

Unit returns to normal operation after the faulty component is replaced and the system is reset.

  • Communication faults resolved

Indoor-outdoor unit communication restored so multi-split systems function correctly.

  • Quote before any part is ordered

Fault confirmed and price agreed before sourcing begins.

When to Book PCB Repair

These symptoms point toward a control board, sensor, or communication fault worth diagnosing.

  • Error code showing that persists after a power reset

A code that returns after cycling the breaker is not a transient fault.

  • Unit not responding to the remote despite fresh batteries and line-of-sight

Rules out the most common remote causes.

  • Unit turns on and off randomly with no pattern or trigger

Erratic cycling without a clear fault code often points to board logic or sensor drift.

  • No display, no response

unit appears completely dead — Once electrical supply is confirmed, the PCB or fuse is the next suspect.

  • Multi-split system where one indoor unit has stopped responding

Communication fault on the control line between units.

When PCB Repair Is Not the Right Call

Not every error code or unresponsive unit is a PCB problem.

  • Error code that clears after power cycling and does not return

Monitor before booking; a transient fault is not necessarily a failing board.

  • Unit not cooling but responding normally to remote

Likely a refrigerant or mechanical fault, not a control board issue.

  • Drainage error codes

May indicate an actual blockage or float switch trigger, not a board fault.

  • Tripped breaker

Check electrical supply and wiring integrity before assuming PCB failure.
