Start with the installed system, then pick how many indoor units actually run on a normal night. The estimate follows active rooms, not the System 3 or System 4 label on its own.

Default tariff uses the Singapore regulated household rate with GST for 1 July to 30 September 2026. Override it if you're on a retailer plan. View SP Group tariff.

How to read the estimate

The number is a baseline for aircon-only usage. If it lines up with your bill increase, the cost is usage-driven. If your bill ran far beyond the estimate, check airflow, sizing, outdoor-unit ventilation, and cooling performance rather than guessing.

What does System 1, 2, 3, or 4 mean for running cost?
The system number tells you how many indoor units are connected to the outdoor condenser. Running cost tracks how many indoor units are actually on, not how many were installed. A System 3 with one bedroom running is closer to System 1 usage than three-room usage.
Why is the result a range instead of one exact number?
Aircon power draw shifts as the compressor ramps up and down. Room load, temperature setting, tick rating, inverter behaviour, and maintenance condition all affect runtime. A range is more useful than a single exact-looking bill estimate.
Does tick rating matter more than BTU?
Both matter. BTU describes cooling capacity. Tick rating describes energy efficiency. A high-BTU unit in a large room can still cost more even when it's 5-tick, and a 2-tick unit can cost more than expected for the same room and hours.
Should I use the full electricity bill or only the bill increase?
Use the calculator as an aircon-only baseline. Compare it against your normal bill pattern, or the increase after aircon usage changed. The full household bill also includes fridge, water heater, cooking, washer, dryer, lights, and electronics.
What if my actual bill is much higher than the estimate?
First check whether usage changed: more hours, lower temperature, more rooms, or hotter weather. If usage stayed the same, look for efficiency loss: dirty filters, weak airflow, blocked outdoor coil, icing, refrigerant issues, or an undersized unit running continuously.
