Aircon expansion valve repair

We test the expansion-valve coil, wiring, control signal and refrigerant circuit before recommending sealed-system work. We’ll assess first, then confirm whether this is the right scope before you book.

What expansion valve repair covers

The expansion valve controls how much refrigerant enters the indoor coil. An electronic expansion valve, often shown as EEV or PMV in a fault table, also depends on its coil, connector, wiring, sensors and PCB command. We identify which part of that chain is failing before opening the refrigerant circuit. Common situations where an expansion-valve check fits:

  • An EEV or expansion-valve code appears

The exact code and model tell us whether the indoor valve, outdoor valve, coil, connection or valve body needs testing.

  • Cooling is unstable or the coil keeps icing

A valve stuck open, stuck closed or responding poorly can disrupt refrigerant flow, but airflow and charge still need checking.

  • The system protects on abnormal pressure

A restricted valve can affect pressure and temperature, while a leak, closed service valve or pipe restriction can create a similar pattern.

When expansion valve repair isn't suitable

Valve symptoms overlap with more common airflow, refrigerant, sensor and control faults. We rule those out before quoting a model-specific valve.

  • The refrigerant charge is low from a leak

Finding and repairing the leak comes before deciding whether the expansion valve is restricting flow.

  • The coil or filter is restricting airflow

A loaded coil or stopped fan can cause icing and abnormal temperatures while the valve is working correctly.

  • The thermistor, wiring or PCB signal is wrong

A healthy valve cannot regulate correctly if its command or the temperature information feeding that command is incorrect.

What you get

A clear valve, control-circuit or refrigerant diagnosis before any sealed-system repair.

  • Exact valve circuit identified

We match the code to the model and distinguish indoor, outdoor and multi-valve circuits.

  • Coil and control checked before the valve body

Connector, harness, coil resistance and PCB command are checked before refrigerant recovery is considered.

  • Repair scope explained before approval

You receive the finding, parts availability and whether the job is electrical or requires sealed-system work.

How an expansion-valve check works

The code identifies a circuit; operating tests determine whether the valve, its controls or the refrigerant system is responsible.

  1. Send us the model and displayed code

Share both model labels, where the code appeared, which rooms are affected and whether cooling is weak, unstable or icing.

  2. We assess the system on-site ($30)

We confirm airflow and refrigerant behaviour, then inspect the valve connector, harness, coil and control signal. The visit fee rules out work you do not need.

  3. We separate the electrical and sealed-system scope

A coil, connector or wiring repair is different from a stuck or restricted valve body that requires refrigerant recovery and replacement.

  4. We explain and quote

You receive the confirmed fault, correct part, lead time and repair-versus-replacement recommendation before work starts.

  5. We repair and verify

After approved work, we run the system through a full cycle and confirm the code, pressure, temperature and cooling response are normal.

What we check before repair

An expansion-valve diagnosis covers the complete refrigerant-control path, not just the valve body.

  • Model and code mapping

We identify the exact valve circuit, reporting unit and system family before testing starts.

  • Coil, connector and wiring

Resistance, continuity and connector condition separate an electrical fault from a mechanical valve problem.

  • Control and sensor inputs

PCB command, thermistor readings and pressure information are checked because they determine how the valve is driven.

  • Refrigerant response

Pressure and temperature behaviour help distinguish a stuck valve from leakage, incorrect charge, a closed service valve or a restriction elsewhere.

Brand-specific expansion valve repair

Choose the brand for its model scope, official diagnostic evidence, parts path and repair-versus-replacement guidance.

Workmanship warranty

We stand behind the repair we carry out, and we are straight about the part of the cover we do not set ourselves.

Labour

30-day labour warranty. If the same fault returns from the repair we did, we come back and the labour is on us, with no second diagnosis fee.

Parts

Parts follow whatever warranty the distributor sets for that component, so the term varies by part. We tell you the coverage before you approve the quote.

Frequently asked questions about aircon expansion valve repair in Singapore

What are the signs of an aircon expansion valve problem?
Common signs include an EEV or expansion-valve code, unstable cooling, repeated icing, abnormal pressure protection, or one indoor unit behaving differently from the others. A leak, airflow restriction, sensor or PCB fault can create similar symptoms.
Does an EEV error mean the valve body needs replacement?
No. The error can involve the coil, connector, harness, PCB command or valve body. We match the code to the exact model and test the circuit before ordering a part or opening the refrigerant system.
Can an expansion valve be repaired without releasing refrigerant?
A connector, wiring or replaceable coil fault may not require the refrigerant circuit to be opened. Replacing the valve body normally requires refrigerant recovery, sealed-system work, evacuation and recharge by a qualified technician.
Should I repair or replace the aircon?
A confirmed coil or wiring fault is often a contained repair. A valve-body replacement is more involved, so the system age, valve access, refrigerant type, parts availability and condition of the compressor and coils should be compared with replacement before you proceed.
