Aircon inverter module repair

We separate an IPM, IGBT or inverter-driver fault from the supply, cooling, wiring, control board and connected compressor or fan before recommending a module or board. We’ll assess first, then confirm whether this is the right scope before you book.

What inverter-module repair covers

The outdoor inverter power stage may be described as an IPM, IGBT, power transistor, inverter board or compressor-driver module. It controls the power delivered to the compressor or fan. A code can identify that stage without proving which replaceable part has failed. Common situations where an inverter-module check fits:

  • An IPM, power-module or inverter-board code appears

The exact model and code identify the power stage, board, module, fan driver or compressor driver that needs testing.

  • The outdoor unit starts, trips or stops under load

A weak power stage can fail as demand rises, but the supply, cooling and connected compressor or fan can create the same protection.

  • Several rooms lose cooling together

On a multi-split or VRF system, one shared outdoor inverter-stage fault can stop the connected indoor units.

When inverter-module replacement isn't suitable

An inverter-related code names the circuit that reported the fault. It does not prove that a separate IPM can or should be replaced.

  • The supply, connector or harness is faulty

Voltage imbalance, loose terminals, damaged wiring or a failed inter-board link can interrupt a healthy inverter stage.

  • Cooling or temperature feedback is wrong

A blocked heat sink, failed fan or temperature-sensor circuit can make the module protect itself without an internal power-stage failure.

  • The compressor or fan is drawing abnormal current

A locked or electrically damaged load can trigger a healthy module's overcurrent protection.

What you get

A clear power-stage diagnosis before a module, driver board, outdoor PCB or compressor is approved.

  • The exact inverter stage is identified

We match the model and code to the IPM, IGBT, inverter board, fan driver or compressor-driver circuit.

  • The module and surrounding circuit are separated

Supply, cooling, connectors, current feedback, control signal and connected load are checked together.

  • The repair and part decision is explained

You receive the confirmed failed stage, correct model-specific assembly, availability and quote before work starts.

How an inverter-module check works

The displayed code narrows the power stage. Electrical, signal, temperature and load checks determine whether the module or another circuit is responsible.

  1. Send us the model and displayed fault

Share both model labels, the complete code or lamp pattern, and whether the outdoor unit starts, trips or remains off.

  2. We assess the system on-site ($30)

We identify the inverter stage and inspect its supply, connectors, harnesses, cooling path and connected load.

  3. We isolate the failed stage

The main PCB, inverter or driver board, IPM/IGBT, current feedback, fan, compressor and electrical supply are separated before a part is selected.

  4. We explain and quote

You receive the confirmed fault, whether the module is separate or board-integrated, the correct part number, lead time and repair recommendation before approval.

  5. We repair and verify

After approved work, we test startup, load response, current, temperature and stable cooling without the original protection.

What we check before repair

Inverter-module diagnosis covers the complete power path rather than treating every IPM or inverter code as a failed module.

  • Model, code and board identity

We confirm whether the source names an IPM, IGBT, inverter board, fan driver or compressor-driver stage on the exact model.

  • Supply, connectors and harnesses

Input voltage, terminals, fuses, inter-board communication and wiring are checked for interruption or damage.

  • Cooling and feedback

Heat-sink condition, fan operation, temperature sensing and current feedback are checked before calling the power stage faulty.

  • Compressor or fan load

The connected load is checked for lock, overcurrent or electrical damage that could trigger a healthy module's protection.

Workmanship warranty

We stand behind the repair we carry out, and we are straight about the part of the cover we do not set ourselves.

Labour

30-day labour warranty. If the same fault returns from the repair we did, we come back and the labour is on us, with no second diagnosis fee.

Parts

Parts follow whatever warranty the distributor sets for that component, so the term varies by part. We tell you the coverage before you approve the quote.

Frequently asked questions about aircon inverter module repair in Singapore

What are the signs of an aircon inverter-module problem?
Common signs include an IPM, power-module or inverter-board code, an outdoor unit that starts then trips, repeated protection or several rooms losing cooling together. Supply, wiring, cooling, sensors, the control board and connected load can create the same symptoms.
Does an IPM or inverter code prove the module has failed?
No. The code identifies the power stage or its protection path. Supply, connectors, cooling, feedback, the wider PCB and the connected compressor or fan must be tested separately.
Can the inverter module be replaced by itself?
It depends on the model. Some systems use a replaceable module or driver board, while others integrate the power stage into a complete outdoor PCB assembly. We confirm the board revision and supported repair before ordering.
Should I repair or replace the aircon?
A contained inverter-stage repair can make sense when the exact failed assembly is confirmed and available. On an older system with compressor damage, repeated board faults or several major issues, compare the complete repair with replacement.
