Hitachi aircon warranty: twelve months, tied to a card
Hitachi covers a new aircon for twelve months, counted from the day it is bought. The length is the simple part. The Singapore conditions attach that cover to a warranty card, and to who services the unit.

Twelve months, counted from the date of purchase
The Singapore conditions of warranty for Hitachi air conditioners set one period, and set it plainly. For twelve months measured from the date of purchase, the product is warranted free from defects in materials under normal use and service. Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning Singapore is the company named on that document.
Purchase is the start date, and installation is not mentioned. That distinction costs money during a renovation. A unit paid for in a package and fitted at handover has been spending its warranty while it sat in the carton. Nothing in the conditions pauses the period for storage.
Two limits sit next to the number. The cover is valid only in Singapore, so a unit shipped elsewhere leaves its warranty behind. The warranty card is also non-transferable, which puts an inherited or second-hand unit outside the cover whatever its age.
The promise itself is narrower than most owners read it. The conditions warrant the product free from any defects in materials, under normal use and service. Workmanship and design are not named in that sentence. Read what the card actually says before assuming a particular fault falls inside it.
Lose the card and the parts become chargeable
The warranty card is the entitlement on these terms, not a keepsake of it. The conditions state that the card is irreplaceable in the event of loss. No replacement process is described, and no substitute document is named in its place.
The consequence is written into the claim rules. Where the card cannot be produced at the time a claim is made, parts and compressors are chargeable even during the warranty period. The same applies where the card is soiled, altered or otherwise tampered with.
One step turns the card into a working document. The conditions require the customer's warranty card copy to be rubber stamped by an authorised dealer, and cover on the compressor and parts is conditional on it. A blank card in a drawer is not the same object.
Serial numbers carry equal weight. A product unit or compressor whose serial number has been altered, tampered with or removed becomes chargeable inside the period. Record both numbers early, and tell anyone working on the system to leave the identification markings alone.
Stamp it on the day, then guard the original
Get the stamp while the dealer's people are still on site. It is the only point where the person who applies it is standing in front of you. Chasing a stamp weeks later turns a formality into an errand nobody owns.
Keep one paper copy outside the flat if the household moves often. The card cannot be reissued, so the only protection available is a duplicate you made yourself. The conditions do not say whether a photograph satisfies a claim, which is a reason to guard the original rather than lean on the copy.
Regular dealer servicing is written into the conditions
The conditions attach a servicing requirement to the cover, and they do not phrase it as advice. The warranty covers the product serviced by Hitachi's authorised dealers, and it holds good only in Singapore. That line sits near the top of the document, ahead of the claim rules.
The compressor and parts carry a stricter version of the same idea. Air conditioners must be serviced by an authorised dealer regularly during the full warranty period, at the customer's cost. Proof of that routine servicing has to be enclosed when a claim is lodged.
Missing either condition is not treated as a deduction. The conditions state that non-observance renders the warranty on the compressor and parts null and void. The servicing you pay for is the thing keeping the free parts available.
Confirm who counts as authorised before booking anyone. A capable independent company is not automatically on that list, and the list belongs to the manufacturer rather than to the market. Ask the dealer or the warranty desk, and keep the answer in writing.
What regularly has to mean when the card is silent
No interval appears in the conditions. The document says regularly and stops there, which leaves the frequency undefined on paper. Treat that silence as a reason to ask, not as room to stretch the gap between visits.
The chargeable list supplies the nearest reference point. Parts become chargeable where the unit has not been installed, maintained or operated in accordance with instruction given by the manufacturer. So the manufacturer's own instructions are the standard being measured against, and they are worth reading before booking anything.
No separate compressor period appears in these terms
The Singapore conditions state one period, and it covers the product. The compressor does appear in the document, but it appears inside the conditions attached to cover rather than as a longer term of its own. Twelve months is the only length written down.
That matters because buyers usually expect a bigger compressor number. If a longer term has been promised to you, it is not coming from this document. Ask where it is written before planning a repair decision around it.
The document also keeps the decision. On presentation of the card, defective parts are repaired or replaced during the period, and Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning Singapore reserves the right to make the final decision on repair or replacement. An owner cannot insist on a new compressor in place of a repair.
Charging is left open on the items owners ask about most. The conditions say defective parts are repaired or replaced, and set no terms either way on labour, transport or refrigerant. Silence is not the same as cover. Ask for the quote itemised, with parts and labour on separate lines, so the boundary is visible before you approve anything.
Consumables are excluded outright rather than left silent. The conditions place consumable parts and materials outside cover, naming filters, belting and batteries. Those are the items a routine visit touches most often, which is part of why the servicing you are required to buy stays your own cost.
A longer term quoted, and the registration portal
Check who stands behind any extra years offered. A dealer-backed extension and a manufacturer term are different products with different desks answering the phone. Ask which one is on offer, and ask in writing who pays the technician if the compressor fails after the twelve months.
Registration is a separate thing from the card. Johnson Controls-Hitachi runs a Singapore warranty registration portal, and the conditions of warranty are published through it. The conditions themselves make no mention of registration and set no deadline for it, and the card remains the document to be produced. Register anyway, because it puts your model and serial numbers on a record before anything goes wrong.
Circumstances that make a live warranty chargeable
The conditions carry a list of situations where parts and compressors are charged for, even inside the twelve months. Reading that list once is worth more than reading the period twice. The period tells you how long. The list tells you whether. One further condition sits outside that list: on a split type, cover holds only where indoor and outdoor units are matched compatibly.
Three entries describe how the unit has been treated. A product unit that has been tampered with, misused or damaged while in transit is chargeable. So is a unit not installed, maintained or operated in accordance with instruction given by the manufacturer. So is a defect due to deviation from the recommended application and installation.
Two more describe the supply and the weather. Defects caused by fire, lightning and other natural disasters sit outside the cover. So do defects caused by abnormal voltage, or where the incoming power supply is from a generator set.
A final clause sits underneath the whole document. The card states that it does not cover losses or damages caused directly or indirectly by a break-down of the equipment, and that no other warranties expressed or implied apply beyond those listed. The damage a failure causes and the part that failed are two different bills.

The clause that catches a quick third-party fix
Repairs, modifications or connections by persons other than those authorised by Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning Singapore make parts and compressors chargeable. The wording covers connections as well as repairs, so wiring changes are inside its reach. A quick fix during the first year can cost the rest of that year's cover.
The trap is ordinary rather than reckless. A drain that drips, a remote that stopped pairing, a new noise from the outdoor unit. Each of those gets handed to whoever is free that week. If that person opens the unit, the cover on parts is what paid for the convenience.
Route the fault through the warranty desk first. Report it, get the instruction, and let an authorised party do the work while the period still runs. Where a job proves to be outside the warranty, ask for that in writing, then choose a contractor on the merits.
The two power supply clauses
The generator line matters on sites where mains electricity is not yet live. A unit commissioned and run on temporary supply during fitting-out has been operated in the exact circumstance the clause names. Get the mains connection in place before the system is run, or accept that the clause is available to the warranty desk.
Abnormal voltage is harder to see and harder to argue about after the fact. Where a flat has had recurring supply problems, an electrical check before installation costs less than the argument afterwards. Keep any electrician's report with the warranty card and the servicing invoices.
