iFan Aircon Warranty: Two Years, and an Unsettled Decade

iFan sells portable aircon, not split systems. The cover behind it is appliance warranty, and four official surfaces describe it in four slightly different ways. The length is settled at two years; what it covers is not.

Two company names, one service counter

Two companies appear on the paperwork behind an iFan portable aircon. The instruction manuals name PowerPac Electrical Pte Ltd as the party whose prior consent an outside repairer needs. The terms and conditions page names Everson Electrical (S) Pte Ltd in the same clause and as the company you present documents to.

Both names carry the same address, phone number and email. The product page footer prints Everson Electrical (S) Pte Ltd at 5 Changi South Lane, and the service centre named in the manuals is the same unit. Address correspondence to the service centre and quote your model number.

The badge itself is a house brand sold through PowerPac. iFan portable aircon comes in three sizes, at ten, twelve and fourteen thousand BTU, marketed as three-in-one machines that also run as a fan and a dehumidifier. There is no split system in the range.

That shape changes who answers for a fault. A split system divides responsibility between the manufacturer and whoever fitted the pipe run; a portable machine puts one company behind one object, and the window-kit installation priced in the listings carries no workmanship period.

Every repair is a walk-in or a paid pickup

The terms rule out house calls in one sentence. The service and maintenance section states plainly that onsite repairs cannot be provided. A faulty portable aircon must get itself to the service centre at Changi South Lane, and the fourteen thousand BTU model weighs thirty-two kilograms net.

Two routes exist. Carry it in during opening hours, which run 8.30am to 5pm on weekdays and 8.30am to noon on Saturday, with Sunday and public holidays closed. Or pay for collection. The terms price transport at $25 one way and $50 both ways, imposed whether or not the machine is inside its warranty period.

Do not send it by courier. The terms state that a product delivered by a third party will not be accepted, and repeat the same instruction in the returns section. That rules out the obvious workaround for a heavy appliance in a household without a car.

Keep the paperwork alongside the transport. A repair request asks you to bring the purchase receipt showing the date and the price, your full name, contact number and email address, plus the machine's model and serial numbers. Arrive without proof of purchase and labour and parts will be charged.

Motor only, parts and components, or twenty-four months

Three official wordings give the same length and three different scopes. The manuals and the eWarranty portal grant two years from the date of purchase, covering the Motor only, subject to correct usage. The product listings promise two years on parts and components against defects in materials and workmanship. The terms and conditions page grants twenty-four months from the date of registered purchase.

Motor only and parts and components are not the same promise. A fan motor failure sits inside both readings. A control board, a thermostat or a failed switch sits inside the listing wording and outside the manual wording. Which reading applies decides whether an ordinary fault is free or chargeable.

The manual wording explains itself once you read the rest of the sentence. The same line sets six months on fluorescent light tubes and mosquito insect repellents, and six months on rechargeable batteries. The listing wording is the one written for this product.

The start date splits along the same seam. Date of purchase and date of registered purchase are the same day only if you register on invoice day. Leave it three months and one reading gives you a quarter less cover. No registration deadline appears on any surface.

Register the day the invoice prints

Registration is a condition. The manuals state the warranty is honoured subject to registration inclusive of the original invoice or valid purchase receipt, and failure to present those documents results in denial of service. The terms add a softer landing: repair at the company's discretion, with labour and parts borne by you.

The portal asks for the purchase date, an upload of the proof of purchase, and each unit's model plus its serial number. It takes up to eight products in one submission, so anything else PowerPac-branded in the flat can go on the same record. Photograph the receipt before it fades.

Photograph the rating plate before the machine goes into service. The serial number is asked for at registration and again at the counter, and it carries a clause of its own. Under no circumstances may it be erased, defaced or altered, and doing so voids the cover.

Keep the warranty card with the invoice. The terms require both to be presented at the service centre within the warranty period, and a gifted product needs the warranty to arrive with the original invoice or cash bill. A machine handed over without paperwork has no practical claim route.

The decade appears on three surfaces and not the fourth

All three iFan portable aircon listings advertise ten years warranty on compressor against defects in materials and workmanship. The manuals say the same thing in their own words, and so does the eWarranty portal.

The terms and conditions page tells it differently. It sets the general period at twenty-four months, then lists the exceptions: ten years for compressors for refrigerators, freezers and wine chillers. Portable air conditioners do not appear on that list. Read strictly, an iFan portable sits outside the long term.

No owner can settle a disagreement between two official documents from the outside. Ask for written confirmation of the compressor period against your model number, and file the reply with the invoice. Until it exists, plan around the two years and treat the decade as unconfirmed.

Pricing a compressor failure on a portable

A compressor is the expensive item inside any refrigeration appliance. The portable context narrows what ten years on it is worth. These machines list between $379 and $699, so a repair decision follows the price of the appliance more closely than the price of the part.

Scope matters as much as length here. Nothing published says whether a compressor claim in year seven supplies the part alone or covers the work of fitting it. Put that question in the same email as the one asking whether the ten years applies to a portable.

Two clauses cap what a claim can ever be worth. Liability for any loss or damage arising from the purchase is limited to the purchase price excluding installation and delivery fees, or the recommended retail price, whichever is lower. Separately, the decision on all repairs is stated as conclusive, and the purchaser agrees to be bound by it.

Null and void is printed on the product page

Two void conditions sit on the iFan listings themselves. Extension of the exhaust hose may overheat the unit, and the listing calls that grounds to make your warranty null and void. Running the machine in a commercial or industrial application carries the same stated consequence.

The terms and conditions page backs the second one twice. It restricts the warranty to products purchased and used for domestic purposes, and excludes all commercial or professional use. Product used for commercial purposes then appears again in the exclusion list.

The socket line is worded more gently than either. The listings say the model should be plugged directly into the wall socket outlet, and that the use of extension sockets is not recommended. That is guidance, not a stated void clause, but follow it regardless.

The manuals add a void clause of their own. The warranty is deemed void if the defect is caused by household pests, fire, lightning, natural disasters, pollution, abnormal voltage or the use of generators. The exclusion list names lizards, rats, cockroaches and ants.

A 1.5 metre hose fixes where the machine stands

Every iFan portable ships with a 1.5 metre exhaust hose and a window slide bar. That length decides how far the machine can sit from the window, and 1.5 metres disappears quickly once a bed or a sofa is in the way.

The exclusion list reaches the hose from two directions. Damage from overheating is excluded outright, and so is damage to accessories such as flexible hoses, which puts the supplied hose outside cover as a component in its own right.

Where the exclusion list lands on a portable

Maintenance sits outside cover in one sentence. Normal wear and tear, replacement of consumable materials and accessories, and the cost of maintenance are all named as uncovered. Washing the mesh filter is yours in year one and in every year after.

Damage from misuse, accidents, owner neglect, alteration or modification sits outside the warranty. So does any repair by a repair organisation or an agent of the customer without prior consent. The terms extend that to failure to abide by the warnings printed in the instruction manual.

It also disclaims damage to property howsoever caused, naming flooring, walls, wallpaper, ceilings, furniture and carpets. On an appliance that collects water indoors, that is the line to notice. Cover is valid in Singapore only, and transferability is not addressed on any official surface.

Charges attached to a repair, in and out of warranty

The listings publish a two-way collection and return service on repair, described as a discounted rate of $50. The terms price a one-way trip at $25 and both ways at $50, so the round trip costs twice the single leg.

Two refund clocks attach to that fee. The $50 is refunded if the new product requires repairs within 180 days of being delivered. After a repair, no further fee is collected if the repaired product needs further repairs within 90 days.

A separate clock can cost you the machine outright. Product not collected within one month of the collection date is disposed of, with the method left to the company's discretion. Note the collection date the moment the service centre gives you one and keep the Repair Collection Note.

Returns run for fifteen days from delivery. The listings state the model is not refundable, exchangeable or returnable for change of mind. After fifteen days, but inside the warranty period, the published route is online registration and a service centre trip.

Common questions

What does iFan warranty cover on a portable aircon?
Official surfaces describe different scopes, from the motor alone to parts and components, over the same length. Save the listing page for your model and settle the scope in writing with the service centre.
How does an iFan repair get handled?
Repairs are walk-in only, so the unit must reach the service centre at Changi South Lane or a paid collection arranged. Carry the purchase receipt, warranty card and serial number together.
What can void iFan cover?
Extending the exhaust hose beyond the supplied length and commercial or industrial use are both stated as void grounds. Damage from pests, surges or abnormal voltage is excluded as well.
Does the advertised long compressor term apply to a portable?
The listings advertise it, but the terms page does not include portable aircon in that exception. Ask for written confirmation against your model before treating the longer term as banked.
What must accompany an iFan service centre visit?
The original invoice, the warranty card and the machine with its serial label intact. The terms require the documents at the counter, and a removed or defaced serial number voids cover.
