Tengah BTO Sizing: Rooms in Use, Not Bedroom Count
Fewer outlets than bedrooms feels like being sold short. Capacity does not work that way, and the count that matters is a different one.

What gets specified

What the drawing does not show
The number of rooms is a fact and the number that need cooling is a decision. An outdoor unit holds a fixed capacity divided among the indoor units connected to it, so every outlet added is a share taken from the others. Where two rooms carry almost all the use, a smaller system serving those properly outperforms a larger one spread thinly. What the design needs is how each room is used, and that question rarely gets asked.

Why it goes wrong
System sizing usually starts from the floor plan, because it is the only information available at the time. The floor plan describes the flat and says nothing about the household. A system matched to rooms rather than to use commits capacity, cost and running expense to spaces that stay empty, and the rooms in constant use are the ones that pay for it.
What the fix involves
The system is sized to the pattern of use, with the occasional rooms handled by a separate arrangement rather than a permanent outlet each. That reduces the purchase price and gives the busy rooms the capacity they need. It is worth asking the question directly before any layout is drawn, because the answer changes the equipment rather than just the position of it.
How to tell it worked
Whether the rooms in daily use hold their setting under real conditions, rather than whether every room has an outlet. The count is not the measure of a correctly sized system.
