Hisense Aircon Warranty: Six Years, One Component Only

Hisense badges its Singapore aircon range at up to six years. Six years belongs to the compressor by itself. Parts and labour run two years by default, and the five-year version has to be bought and then held up by yearly servicing.

What the six on the badge actually buys

Hisense prices its Singapore aircon range under a badge reading up to 6Y Warranty. The warranty chart on the same site explains that phrase in one line: air conditioners sit at six years, on site, with the scope printed as two years all parts and six years compressor.

The dedicated aircon policy states the same split in ordinary words. Standard cover gives two years on parts and labour, starting on the purchase date, and the compressor gets six years from that identical day. Hisense adds that no mandatory servicing with its partner installers applies at this tier.

Most faults a homeowner meets fall inside the shorter figure. Control boards, thermistors, indoor blower motors, run capacitors and outdoor fan motors are parts, not compressors. From the first day of year three, every one becomes a paid repair under the standard tier, whatever the badge says.

The on-site wording carries a gap worth closing early. The chart marks aircon service as on site, and the policy confines repairs and replacements to Singapore while the product stays here. Neither text says whether attendance and labour are free on a compressor claim once the parts term has ended, so ask Hisense for that answer in writing while the unit still works.

The longer term is rented, not owned

Hisense sells a second tier lifting parts and labour to five years, while compressor cover stays at six. The policy makes standard cover the default unless you have purchased and qualified for the Hisense Extended Warranty, and heads the second tier as optional coverage. Both verbs carry weight.

Purchase alone does not hold the longer parts term. Hisense requires every air conditioning unit bought from it to be serviced at least once a year, by a Hisense-authorized partner installer, with invoices kept and produced when asked.

Missing a year costs less than the wording first suggests. The policy states that failure to comply results in reversion to standard coverage: a lapsed year surrenders the extra parts period, while the two-year term and the six-year term survive intact. Set that against the null and void clauses printed further down the same page.

The commercial detail is absent from the published page: no price, no buying window, and nothing fixing when the tier has to be bought relative to the aircon itself. Settle all three points in writing with the seller at the point of sale.

Two exclusions shape when the tier is worth buying. The contract excludes products still covered by the manufacturer's original written warranty, so the tiers run in sequence rather than stacking. It also bars a claim where you already knew, at purchase, of something that would give rise to one, so buying cover for a fault you have today does not work.

Every unit in the flat, every single year

The condition reaches the whole installation rather than the machine that failed. Hisense asks for all air conditioning units purchased with it to be serviced yearly, so a System 4 flat carries four annual obligations, and the record has to cover all four.

Book through a Hisense-authorized partner installer for as long as any cover remains; that channel is named for the annual visit under the extended tier. The clause voiding the contract for work by an unauthorized repairer sits in the general section instead, which applies while the six-year compressor term is still running.

Purchase day starts it, and the receipt protects that

Both Hisense documents start the clock on the original purchase date, not installation. An aircon paid for when a renovation opens, then fitted on handover day, burns cover while it sits boxed in a corner.

The fallback clause matters more than its placement suggests. Where proof of purchase is unavailable, the group policy dates the period from the manufacturing date read off the serial number, so a unit built months before it reached the shop loses that difference. The receipt defends the later date.

One sentence removes any second chance at the paperwork: Hisense states that the warranty certificate will not be reissued if lost. Photograph the certificate, the tax invoice and the rating plates on both boxes, and store those images somewhere a house move cannot destroy.

A much shorter clock runs in the first week of ownership. The group policy allows an exchange or replacement request within seven days of purchase. That applies where a manufacturing defect is found after reasonable assessment.

After those seven days, repair becomes the main remedy. A replacement comes only when the defect resists reasonable repair or keeps recurring.

Registration exists on the Hisense Singapore site but is not written in as a condition. The form asks for purchase details, category, model, serial number and proof of purchase, and publishes no deadline, while neither warranty document names registration as a requirement for cover. Treat the form as a useful record, not a gate you can miss.

The extended contract disagrees with the page it sits on. Its official terms make your rights operative from the date of expiry of the manufacturer's original 1-year warranty, while the standard tier printed above it reads two years on parts and labour. Ask Hisense to confirm in writing which date governs your extended term, and save a dated copy of both pages.

Handing a live Hisense warranty to a buyer

Hisense permits the cover to follow the product. The policy requires you to provide the original receipt to the new owner if you sell or transfer within the warranty period, and the terms then continue for the remaining period.

That receipt is the entire mechanism: no form, no fee and no notification to Hisense appears anywhere in the clause. Pass over the servicing invoices as well if the extended tier is live, because the buyer inherits the annual obligation with the cover.

The two texts name different documents for the same step. Section seven of the aircon policy asks for the original receipt, while the appended extended contract asks for the original email receipt. Keep the printed copy and the emailed confirmation filed together, and the difference stops mattering.

Call Hisense first, or the bill is yours

Reporting the fault is a precondition of payment, not a courtesy. The aircon policy states that if the product failure is not reported prior to repair or replacement, the cost will not be approved.

The next clause goes further than an exclusion. Repair or service by an unauthorized repairer renders the contract null and void, under the heading Hisense gives to general coverage applying to both the standard and extended warranty. It is not a condition of the paid tier alone.

A second void clause reaches instructions rather than repairs. Not following what the manufacturer specifies for installation, operation, or where applicable annual servicing carries the same outcome. The qualifier does real work: annual servicing binds only where the terms demand it, which is the extended tier, while installation and operation bind at both tiers.

Neither document defines unauthorized, and with a void clause hanging on the word, the conservative reading is the only safe one. Route repairs through Hisense support while cover is live, and keep the case reference from that call. The warranty hotline runs daily from 9am to 11pm, including weekends and public holidays.

Cleaning is excluded and also required

Both texts exclude maintenance from the cover. The group policy names routine maintenance services including cleaning, general servicing and inspections, and the extended contract lists general maintenance among its exclusions. A live Hisense warranty pays for no cleaning in any year of either tier.

The same activity reappears as the condition on the paid tier: annual servicing is what keeps five years of parts cover alive, and the owner funds every one of those visits.

Exclusions written for a Singapore flat

Several entries on the exclusion lists describe ordinary conditions here. Normal wear and tear, sweating, corrosion, rusting and stains are excluded together on one line, while damage caused by operation in an abnormally corrosive environment is excluded separately. A condenser on a sea-facing ledge gives Hisense two clauses to point at.

Power problems are excluded across both documents. The group policy lists improper voltage supply, and separately lightning, power surges and abnormal voltage, while the aircon policy excludes damage due to power surges and failure from incorrect voltage. Insect and animal infestation is excluded in both texts too.

The boundary Hisense draws stops at the manufactured unit. External faults such as rusted wiring, electrical connections and plumbing are excluded by name, a wording that reaches the isolator, the circuit feeding it, the drain run and the mounting bracket. The group policy excludes improper installation as well, leaving those bills with whoever fitted the system.

Two lines change how a service visit gets billed. Call-out charges where no fault is found are excluded, and so is any diagnosis where no defect has been found or noted, so a visit ending without a confirmed fault costs you money.

Use restrictions deserve a check before a tenancy begins. The aircon policy excludes commercial use, rental use, and communal or multi-user setups; the extended contract widens that to public rental and use for profit; and the group policy limits the product to private domestic use only. A landlord fitting Hisense units into a let flat should ask Hisense in writing where that line sits.

Replacement, and the visits Hisense can refuse

Replacement closes the file rather than restarting it. Hisense holds sole option to repair or replace, warns that a replacement may be of lower retail value, and states the contract ceases from the replacement date. The extended contract separately excludes removal, installation and reinstallation costs, plus the cost of modifying built-in structures to fit a replacement.

Access is the other practical limit in this market. Hisense reserves the right to decline service in inaccessible or hazardous locations, and to refuse access where a place, a person or an event poses risk, a clause that describes a fair number of condenser positions on Singapore blocks. Sort out safe access before booking anything, covered or not.

Common questions

What do the two Hisense warranty tiers cover?
The standard tier carries parts and labour for a set period, then the compressor alone for longer. The paid tier lifts the parts and labour window but keeps the same compressor position.
How is the Hisense extended tier kept alive?
Yearly servicing by a Hisense-authorised partner, with the invoices kept as proof. A missed year reverts the cover to the standard tier rather than cancelling it outright.
What can end Hisense cover early?
Repair or service by an unauthorised party, failure to follow the installation and operation instructions, and damage from power events, pests or corrosion. Report a fault to Hisense before an outside contractor opens the unit.
How does Hisense warranty change hands on a sale?
Cover follows the product when the original receipt is passed to the new owner. Hand over the servicing invoices as well while the extended tier is live, because the yearly obligation travels with it.
Which documents should a Hisense owner hold?
The tax invoice, the warranty certificate, the servicing records and photos of both rating plates. The certificate is not reissued if lost, so photograph it early and store the copy separately.
