Sharp Aircon Blinking Light: What It Means and What to Do
Sharp faults arrive as a code in the manufacturer's Air App error list, shown as a pair such as 1-1 or 26-2. Units with a display show the pair directly, while LED-only models signal a stored fault through the panel. Match the code before deciding on a repair.

What each Sharp indicator light does
Sharp wall-mounted units carry an operation light and a timer light on the indoor panel. Plasmacluster models add a separate indicator for the ion generator. Layout and brightness vary by series, so check your own model's manual for the exact positions.
| Indicator | Role | Fault relevance |
|---|---|---|
| Operation light | Running status | A fault shows as changed light behaviour, not a steady light |
| Timer light | Timer and sleep status | Not a fault indicator on its own |
| Plasmacluster indicator (AH-XP, some AH-X) | Ion generator activity | Cycles on its own schedule; not part of the fault list |
| Display (models with one) | Shows the hyphenated code | The code appears as a pair such as 5-4 or 19-0 |

Normal Sharp light behaviour and what is not a fault
A steady operation light means the unit is running, and a steady timer light means a timer is active. Neither is a fault.
The Plasmacluster indicator turns on and off with the ioniser cycle. Its movement alone does not point to a fault.
Code 3-0 is a temporary stop during dehumidifying, and it clears when the operation finishes. Treat it as a status row rather than a repair trigger.
The compressor may hold off for a brief spell after power returns. That delay protects the mechanism, and a stored code is the better clue to follow.
Sharp fault patterns and the codes they map to
Sharp publishes these as hyphenated pairs in the Air App list. The rows below group the pairs by the system area they cover. The Sharp error code list holds every code above, and the Air App list is the manufacturer's published copy.

How to retrieve a Sharp error code
On models with a display, read the hyphenated pair directly from the indoor panel. The same pair appears in the Sharp Air App error list, which is the manufacturer's published table.
On LED-only models, note which lights are on, off or flashing and how the pattern repeats. Record a video over several cycles and match it against that list or Sharp support.
In a multi-head installation, read each head's panel in turn. One unit can store a fault that the others do not show.
Sharp systems with more than one indoor unit
Where several indoor units share one outdoor unit, the fault can sit at either end. Record the code at each panel before deciding where to look.
The same pair on every unit points to the shared outdoor side or the communication wiring. A pair on one unit only usually points to that unit: 26-1 or 26-2 for its sensors, 19-0 for its fan, 22-0 for the Plasmacluster connection.
The number of affected units narrows the fault before any parts are ordered.
Common questions
